Heel Pain
Three Stretches to Try Before Your First Step
If the first step hurts, start before the first step. A simple stretch routine can reduce sudden tension through the arch and heel.
Stretch before load
A towel or hand-assisted calf stretch before getting out of bed can reduce the sudden pull through the heel.
Do not force painful stretching. Sharp pain is a signal to stop and get a clearer diagnosis.
Add support immediately
Supportive shoes or sandals near the bed can help reduce barefoot stress on hard floors.
If you only stretch but keep walking barefoot, symptoms may keep returning.
When stretching is not enough
Call if pain lasts, worsens, or keeps returning after rest. Stretching is helpful only when the diagnosis and load problem match.
